Wu embraces vivacious brushstrokes in her abstract gestural work, which vibrate with explosive colors and sense of lines. Channeling her creative energy onto large-scaled surfaces, she paints and smudges rapidly in an intuitive way. She finds a range of inspirations in nature and personal narrative. Beyond visual culture, the immediate surroundings, and the complexity of lived experiences, lies the heart of her practice. Inspired by Taoism, specifically the concept of Chi, Wu paints the movement of vapor, air and energy in the environments in her work. She paints herself as a silhouette figure as part of the obscure abstraction. She lives in her work. That is her synesthetic response to the chaotic but unified world. In the myths of pleasure, the composition hovers on the edge of the abstraction and figuration in an open dimension.
